“Libraries were full of ideas–perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”

This book follows the amazing assassin, Celaena Sardothien who is currently a slave at Endovier. Suddenly, she is taken from her duties and brought to the sexy Crown Prince, Dorian. He proposes her to be set free in four years if she win a competition and become the King’s Champion. Being the King’s Champion means that she has to do whatever the King wants. When she finally arrives at the palace, she starts to train with Chaol who is also her guard. During the months she has to spend there, she has to deal with a lot of weird stuff. Also, a love triangle start to grow but it shouldn’t happen because it’s “forbidden”.

I loved Celaena. Even though she’s an assassin, she’s a wonderful person with beautiful feelings. She suffered a lot when she lost her parents. She had to fight a lot because all she wanted was her freedom. Weird stuff started to happen and she had to fight harder because everything was getting more difficult. But, she had a lot of help from two amazing women. Throughout the story it was clearly that she started to feel something for two guys at the same time and I wanted her to be with BOTH.

Nehemia, the Princess of Eyllwe, is one of the women who helped her a lot. Nehemia and Celaena became really good friends and I loved how well developed was their friendship.

All women love Prince Dorian… I do too. He’s handsome, charming and lovely. He really likes Celaena but at the end, things didn’t go how he wanted. Every time he kissed her and talked to her about books, I felt extremely happy. He was my favorite but I think I love Chaol too. No shame though.

Chaol, the Captain of the Guard, is this shy but sexy guy that will melt your heart. His shyness will make you crazy because that’s way too sexy. He likes Celaena, but secretly and there is something cute about that. I knew he suffered every time he saw her with Dorian but he didn’t say anything. He killed Cain, the beast that gave you chills every time you read about him.

I loved the sarcasm, the romance, the mystery and the action that this story has. I loved how well developed was the love, the hatred and the friendship throughout the story. I would love to know more about the wyrdmarks, the King’s plan and why Duke is so arrogant. I think this book has a lot of potential and it’s a good beginning to the series. I fell in love with the book since I started reading it and I can feel that I’m going to love the entire series. Sarah J. Maas is such an amazing writer.

  1. I really need to get to this series… WHY does my TBR list have to be so long and stressful. LOL 😀 Great review and I have officially fallen in love with the quote about books at the beginning. ❤
