This book follows the adventures of Simon Lewis while he prepares to become a Shadowhunter. As you may know, he lost his memories, so now he’s trying to find himself again. Along the way, he learns some history about the Shadowhunter world.

I loved this novellas. As a fan of Cassandra Clare’s writing, I found myself really entertained by these novellas. Simon is a unique character and I’m pretty sure some of you think the same. It was good to have something to read about Shadowhunters while we waited for Lady Midnight. The history was amazing. I loved learning more about the Shadowhunter world. The story of James Herondale was one of my favorites, because he was a really cute and nice boy and having those issues to deal with wasn’t easy. Also, Robert’s past was quite impressive.

Sizzy’s relationship was everything. They had some issues because of Simon memory loss, but they figured and worked things out. I love them so much, and I loved how the did everything in order to save their relationship. They are a weird couple, they aren’t cheesy and romantic… but they are the most beautiful couple ever. Also, we have Magnus and Alex (Malec), who appeared often in the last novellas and reading about them was so good, because I missed them so much!!!

The word parabatai got a lot of meaning in these novellas and I was happy every single time they talked about parabatai. I would love to have a parabatai and share that bond until death. It’s quite beautiful having someone who will feel what you feel and will know what you’re thinking with just looking into your eyes. Even though George and Simon weren’t parabatai, I liked their friendship and I’m so sad about George’s death. Rest in peace sweet boy.

I just wanted to say that you all should read these novellas if you like the Shadowhunter world. I’m pretty sure they won’t disappoint you and also, you will have a lot of fun. Simon is a Lovelace now and that last name never sounded better. There’s a new cold war with the fairies so I’m really excited to read more about it. Anyway, I loved all of these novellas so make sure to check them out.

  1. This collection of short stories has been getting such great reviews from everyone I know, and I really, really want to start reading it – but, I have to catch up with the rest of the series first… and I’ve already pre-ordered my physical copy which won’t get here until December. (at least I have the rest of the year to catch up – but I want it now). So jealous of you right now 🙂
