Is It Really Hard to Write Books Reviews?

Hello everyone!

Guys, is it really hard to write book reviews?

In some ways, yes, but not that hard.

How come? Well, to be honest, I love writing reviews. I know I’m not that good at writing them, but I’ve received nice critics about them so that makes me happy. It’s hard for me to write reviews, because my thoughts get entangled so I have to wait a day or two to get my thoughts organized. But when I organize my thoughts, no one can stop me. I start rambling non stop about it and when I realized, I’ve finished the review.

Writing book reviews doesn’t have to be hard and you don’t have to feel pressured to write them. Personally, I pressure myself to write reviews, because I know that if don’t write them fast, I’ll end up not writing them at all, and my blog would have a lack of posts. But you guys don’t have to pressure yourselves, really. Also, you don’t have to think they’re hard to write. I know some of you think there’s a right way to write reviews, but honestly, there isn’t. I don’t go to google to search “how should I write a review”, I just start writing all my thoughts about the book; characters, world building, the writing style, the plot and more. You don’t even have to organize your thoughts properly, because to be honest, I don’t (sometimes). I try to have an organized way to write them, but I just can’t… I just write non stop and that’s it.

The amazing thing about book reviews is that every single person in this world has a different way to write them and that everyone thinks different about books. Not because I love Percy Jackson everyone loves it too. Some people hate books I love, and they write amazing book reviews expressing why they didn’t liked it without being rude or disrespectful to the author; I admired them.

Publishers and authors don’t ask for a perfect review, so you don’t have to feel like it would be hard to write them. The important thing is to be honest, to tell the truth, to write without being disrespectful to the author who worked so hard to write that book. You just have to organize your thoughts and start writing without being scared or without thinking you don’t write good enough.

There’s one thing that is really hard for me, and that is writing a book review without spoilers. As I’ve mentioned before, I like to write reviews with spoilers, because it’s easier and I like to share my deep thoughts even though some people think we, readers, aren’t supposed to write book reviews with spoilers. But I couldn’t care less. I write how I like and how is easier for me… that’s why I say at the beginning of the review that it will probably have spoilers. See, everyone write reviews in different ways, and that’s what make reviews so amazing.

Overall, writing reviews isn’t that hard so you don’t have to think that it is. Be confident and believe in yourself. Share your true opinion about books, and everything would be fine. It’s okay to write reviews in different ways, it’s okay to write negative reviews, it’s okay to write positive reviews. Find your own way to write and forget about everything else.

  1. I put pressure on myself to write reviews as well, because after a while I’ll forget the details of what I thought about the book. I love going back and reading through my old reviews and remembering how I felt about a book. It’s like having a running record of my thoughts.
    Love this post! 🙂

  2. I’m like you, I want to share ALL THE SPOILERS haha I also find it hard sometimes when I feel like I’m always repeating the same phrases in my reviews, especially if I liked the book. It’s always “The plot was great!” “The characters are awesome!” “Read this book!” hahah Its hard to find variety sometimes. But yes, I think that reviews dont have to be perfect and they will at least be helpful to someone 🙂

  3. I also have a problem with wanting to share all the spoilers haha. My reviews tend to turn into rants about what I would change if I wrote the book lol. Love this topic btw, super thought provoking 🙂
