Being Surprised by Books? Yes! These are the Five Books that Surprised Me.

Hello everyone!

As you may know, I’ve been busy because of colleges and I ran out of ideas. I was talking with some friends, and one of them (Olivia @ Heir of Glitter), gave me this idea. So, I’m going to talk to you about five books that surprised me. We all get surprised by books sometimes. When I bought these books I thought “Mmm… maybe I won’t like them, the story sounds meh”, but I was so wrong. Without further ado, here are five books that surprised me.

1. The Raven Boys

Actually, I wanted to read this book so bad. When I started it, I thought I wouldn’t like it because it was weird. REALLY WEIRD. But oh my God, it was really good. SO SO GOOD! The characters are so unique as well as the story. I highly recommend this.

2. Obsidian

First of all, this cover is horrible, and I was afraid to pick this one up because of it. Let me tell you, this book is amazing. It has some twilight vibes, but still… it’s really good and so much fun. If you like aliens, this is the book for you.

3. Between Shades of Gray

I don’t usually read Historical Fiction. I was hesitant to start this book because I thought it would be boring, but it wasn’t. It was a roller coaster full of emotions. It broke my heart in a million pieces. I adored this book so much. Ruta Sepetys has a honest way to say things, and that makes this book even more amazing.

4. The Selection

Who doesn’t think this would be a cheesy book? I’m pretty sure everybody does. I was excited to read this because I like cheesy books, but you know what? This book has a little bit of everything, and I think that’s what makes it a wonderful story. I was surprised not only by this book, but by the second and the third book. I haven’t read The Heir and The Crown because I’ve heard mixed things, and I don’t feel like picking them up.

5. Insanity

This is such an underrated series. I’m pretty sure most of you don’t know about Insanity or Cameron Jace. Well, this is a twisted “retelling” about Alice in Wonderland. I thought this was going to be a mess of a book, and I wouldn’t like it. To be honest, this book surprised me. I enjoyed how Cameron Jace twisted everything about Alice in Wonderland in a wicked kind of way. This book will drive you insane, but in a really good way.

There you have it. Those are the five books that surprised me. I have some more, but maybe I’ll do a part 2 to this post before the end of the year. Tell me in the comments below which books have surprised you. I would love to know.

I hope you all have a wonderful week. Good luck to everyone starting college this week. Thank you so much for reading. Until next time, xoxo!

  1. I’ve been getting into HF lately so I’ll have to check out Between Shades of Gray (plus, the cover is gorgeous!). I loved Obsidian so much! I read it for the first time in 2014, I believe, and I binged read the read whole series. I bought Insanity’s ebook and I really hope I get to it soon.

  2. I really really want to read the Lux series but the covers are just too disgusting for me to buy them. I just physically cannot own such ugly books. The bindup covers are slightly better but still not the best. Oh well… publishers need to re make these covers ASAP!

With The Selection, I’ve heard so many good things about it but it just reminds me of the Luxe series by Anna Godbersen and I didn’t really like that series so… I might just get the first Selection book from the library and see how it goes 😆

    xoxo
