Best Books of 2017

I’m a little late, and I have been on a book blog hiatus for a few months, but I’m back. I decided that my first post of 2018 should be about the best books I read last year. I didn’t complete my goodreads reading challenge but I don’t feel bad about it. I wanted to read 5 books but I ended up reading only 35… at least I read, right? Last year (2017) was a rough year but I’m glad it’s over.

Without further ado, here are my favorite/best books of 2017.

1. Dangerous Girls by Abigal Haas

This was the first book I read in 2017, and I loved it. It’s a mystery – thriller – contemporary young adult novel about a girl who was murdered while she and a group of friends were on vacation in Aruba. So effin’ good, I swear.

2. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

Cassandra Clare never fails. Every single book she writes gets better  and better. I think The Dar Artifices trilogy has become one of my favorite trilogies of all time. It’s so effin’ good and action packed. Ugh, go and read it if you haven’t already, please.

3. Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

Guys, I swear this is one of the best books I’ve read in my entire life. It’s similar to Fangirl by Rainbow Rowel, but so different at the same time? Yeah, that was weird. It’s such a cute and realistic story, and it’s hard not to feel attached to the main character… believe me.

4. They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

I don’t have words to describe how much I loved this book. This is the first book by Adam that I’ve ever read, and I wasn’t disappointed. His writing style is phenomenal, and this story is so captivating and heartbreaking but in a good way. Please read it if you haven’t. You will love it as much as I do.

5. Echo by Nadette Rae Rodgers

I didn’t want to mention any sequels but it’s impossible not to mention Echo by Nadette Rae Rodgers. Nadette is such a sweet person and amazing author. The first book is called Illusion and it’s about dreamers. It’s such a unique story that will mess up with your head because you will be trying to identify what’s real and what’s an illusion. Go and support this author by reading this amazing book, please.

6. Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp

Sourcebooks Fire sent my an arc copy of this book. It actually came out this year, but I read it last year so it counts. It’s heartbreaking, cold,  and so intriguing. You won’t forget this story, the characters, the town… everything. I highly recommend this book.
